Taste the space
Aim of practice: settling within the space, ideal for the beginning of rehearsals in a new space and calming the energy
Number of participants: ad lib
Time allocation: 30 mins
Focusing on horizontality and verticality continues. A new element comes in, the participants are now playing with the proximity of observed objects and materials. When the actors have discovered enough with their sight, they slowly turn their attention to hearing (they don’t ‘play’ the object, they simply sense its possibilities), smell, taste - and finally, touch - not with the hand, necessarily, it is better to use the wider areas of skin. It’s about finding and experiencing as many possibilities of sensing the space in which we shall work.

The actors find their place inside the space. Motionless, they observe the place. In a while, they can start moving their head. Afterwards they relax so they can move their whole body but their feet remain fixed. They simply observe the space from as many angles as possible, vertically and horizontally. The actors can now slowly move through the space.
