Something truly awkward

Aim of practice: separating verbality from nonverbality
Number of participants: 1+ audience
Time allocation (min): 5+
One of the participants stands in the space and tells an embarrassing story from their life. Telling the story has its rules and the audience guard them. The participants needs to begin with a sentence: “This is not funny.” It is necessary to speak in monotone, without gestures and with minimal mimics. If the participant gets out of bodily blandness, they are alerted and have to start over. In an extended version, other members of the group can interrupt and ask questions regarding the story.
