Follow the impulse

Aim of practice: Connection between partners
Number of participants: 2+/couples
Time allocation: 40 min

One participant is standing with fixed feet, the other (leader) is giving physical impulses of varied intensity (push, pull, nudge, stroke…) into all parts of the body. The follower responds sensitively and follows through with the induced movement. After a few moments the partners adapt and the impulses and responses are adequate. In this time the impulses can grow into movement in space. The intensity of the impulses - swiftness and strength - increases. In a while the leader ceases to give out impulses, the follower has absorbed and integrated the impulses into the center and can further act as though he/she was receiving said impulses. After a while the follower’s impulses calm down and the roles reverse.
